Here is a solid introduction.
Though be aware. I`ve maintained my own gaming VMs and let me tell you it was very frustrating at the end.
Getting it to run is the easy part but maintaining it to a stable state is a hard task. Im not that tech-heavy so other may have better experiences.
I would at least try to see it four yourself. You cant do much harm running VMs since that`s the whole purpose of running them :D

And no, i dont use any tracking spyware apps on my phone let alone chinese anit-social media apps. Why does one assume i use these apps on my phone when i argue about E-privacy? Dont have any other facts to back up your view?
