There's hardly any animals left in the world. Dogs are basically extinct.

Only the EXTREMELY wealthy can afford cloned animal pets; birds and cats mostly.

EDIT: Some more enduring animals survived and live in the cities. Some small nesting birds, and some species of cats did survive. But they're very uncommon.
