Cyberpunk 2077 Not "Cyberpunky" Enough
From the renders and gameplay previews so far, it looks like a great proportion of the buildings and the general architecture in the city are run-down, out of service, rusty etc. It feels like the devs are aiming to make the city more as a "failed" city, or a city that has been deserted or deteriated in contrast to making the architecture futuristic, high-tech and polished (like in ghost in the shell with Scarlett Johanson). They're also quite extensively focusing on the nomad aspect, the wasteland, the life outside the city etc. But is this really cyberpunk? Isn't cyberpunk near the matrix vibe and the movie ghost in the shell 2017? Now what makes cyberpunk "cyberpunk" (if you google on cyberpunk city and view its images), are all the tall skyscrapers with neon lights, holo-commercials and advanced architecture combined with cultural artifacts and a variety of mixed languages on street signs or commercial signs. Of course there are also areas or neighbourhoods that are run-down, but they're still surrounded by neon lights and the buildings are definetly not rusty as in one of the pictures cyberpunk 2077 has showcasing in its picture gallery on its purchase site here on steam. And where are the commercial signs in japanese or swahili or whatever??! All in all, I believe the renders and gameplay views of the game is not cyberpunky enough and still lacks that futuristic feeling to it; unfortunately. Hope they fix this.
