Well this is not that shocking almost every game has to be hit with downgrades for various reasons most cases are performance or money issues, Saying that at least CDPR seems to be honest about it where as most companies try to hide it "cough cough" (insert company name here).
Personally I think some of these look better now then they did in the 2018 video like the jane doe rescue mission in 2018 looked very bright inside the bathroom including the characters being very vibrant, Now it seems more like interior lighting and the characters don't seem to glow as much but their cybernetics do which is perfect.

The game is actually fine from a technical perspective. My complaint is that the art direction is bad. Really bad. There's been a few frames that I thought were inspired, but the overwhelming majority of this game is depressingly bland, boring, and uninspired in design.
I loved The Witcher series and thought that CDPR did an admirable job of putting a unique artistic identity on a genre that has been done to death - the medieval fantasy. So what happened here? How did a genre with far less competition turn out so hopelessly generic? What happened to the artists that were able to breathe life into the super stale medieval fantasy genre? Why does this game seek to ape Syd Mead so freaking hard without managing to achieve any of his sense of style?
Edit: CDPR should have hired the artists from Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. They achieved a far, far more interesting take on cyberpunk.

This is not a fair comparison. The new gameplay footage is not in full HD, it wasn't decoded properly on the streams.
The lighting does look improved though.
Check out this full HD vid.

You do not understand the argument that keanu reeves reveal trailer is pure CGI so it cannot be compared to in-game in-engine trailer. Also overall build graphics have improved in 2020 build so it is not a downgrade.Originally posted by KRON:And this comparison uses new trailer(which is, indeed, labeled as in-game[imgur.com]) and b-roll video provided by CDPR for the youtubers(which is also in-game).

But here is the problem most of the gameplay of cyberpunk 2077 used in this comparison is not from E3 2018 but from 2019 gameplay videos which takes at different time of day. As for my Prerendered cutscenes argument aside of the few first seconds of E3 2018 trailer the problem is that this comparison uses Cinematic trailer that was never mentioned as in-game or in-engine form. That trailer is pure CGI and should not be used as a comparison.Originally posted by KRON:In the E3 2018 demo very little was pre-rendered(like a few seconds). In the video in the OP all of the scenes were real gameplay and not a pre-rendered cutscene.

You have to understand that some of the stuff that was showed in 2018 were prerendered cutscenes and in 2020 they are directly in-game in-engine cutscenes.
So of course they look different but i my opinion 2020 build looks way better without overused film grain, vaseline effect and that orange filter(just like the Deus ex HR that orange filter ruined everything).

It's E3 2018 demo. In 2019 a different place, quests and characters were demonstrated. They may be wrong, but those who default to that low blow are almost always kids on a mental level. Someone can be wrong without there being something wrong with them.

Fake news,
The Game is not downgraded,
The Footage is downgraded?????????????????????
Lighting is more even and natural with over saturation now gone, only thing downgreaded was the extra erosion detailing on some surfaces. And your comparing it to pure CGI,
Misinformation, Their worst gameplay was also done on console (The one with broken Face animations)
