I doubt the game will implement death as a mechanic tied to the lore like Souls/Strand-type games (chuckled a bit at the latter). My guess is it'll still work like in tW3. Checkpoints and saves. Tho you never know.

Still, if they had that in mind, they would've revealed that much earlier. If they don't say anything explicitly about death mechanics in the upcoming Night City Wire, then your best bet is artifical 4th wall checkpoints.

No one knows, yet.

But the premise of the immortality chip suggests that we won't simply "die."

I predict that if our characters do die, we'll wake up in some garbage dump a few days later (supported by concept art with Morgan Blackhand) and go back on our merry way.

Vampires and orks are immortal too. Doesn't help them.
I think only games that handles not dying properly are King's Bounty reboots. It makes sense and you can end up in unwinnable situation if you lose too much fights. Some people say the same about System Shocks, but i don't know, prefer a straight death. Ded is ded, anything else just looks pointless, we are capable of loading the safe after all. I don't count mmos and diablo like game ofc.
