Hopefully Difficulty is Smart
Hopefully the game is punishing, has no need for difficulty levels and there's AI to dynamically adjust the difficulty to keep it punishing. Punishing would be harder than challenging but not as hard as impossible.
Looking forward to the game.

They way I would implement this if I was a dev would be to have the difficulty level set at three levels ,
1: Story mode , this mode will be the least difficult and intended for people who just want to enjoy the story and they have minimal gaming skills. This will not be a creative mode though and the player can lose if they are not paying attention during the tutorial and don't have basic skills.
This mode can also serve as an extended tutorial that will take a non-gamer and teach them the skills to be a gamer.
2: Game mode, this mode will be for the average gamer with average skills , it will be moderately difficult , but not too hard.
3: Nightmare mode, this mode is for gamers who want to push the limits of their skills, it will be extremely difficult , the AI will be smarter , there will be more enemies and they will have more health.
4: Ironman mode, this would be an option for nightmare mode where the player gets only one life and they only get exit saves (no saving and reloading at will), if they die that is it, their exit save is deleted and they have to start again.
Although I do like the idea of dynamic difficulty scaling , but I would like the difficulty to be set within ranges for each mode with the game scaling the difficulty based on how well you are doing
calculated from metrics like accuracy, K:D ratio & time between checkpoints. And if the system thinks you are ready for another mode it will let you know at the end of your play through if you it thinks you are ready for a harder mode and it will offer to lower the mode in mid game if they player is struggling.
And make it only possible to downgrade difficulty mode in the middle of a play through, If the player wants to go to a harder mode they will have to start again.
And the game could have a special set of achivements for Nightmare & ironman modes and bonus content like special endings for those modes.
Of course this would be very hard to implement , but it would make a game awesome if it had this feature.

i hope, my first play of the witcher 3 was on the Death March and was "hard" only the first 3 or 4 hours. after that never died again except on the last boss of "blood and wine" just because a one shoot mechanic. but easy anyway.

Depends... it may have some type of semi-adaptive difficulty or even difficulty options. However, hard will likely depend on play style. Stealth is almost always overpowered in most games per design because stealth is a skill set and it has absolute authority over most difficulty challenges a game can impose via simply bypassing them entirely. Gun fights and bosses are where difficulty will tend to have the biggest impact. I wouldn't get your hopes up if you are the type to play heavily stealth oriented, but anyone else it may be able to cater to so long as they don't also have excessively overpowered builds/strategies that can be exploited.

Oh so kinda like ''Oh hey the player died like 14 times in this section before. maybe it would be a good idea to make it a little bit easier'' i like that idea in games since even if you a ''Pro'' and have played for years or a person that rarely plays or this is one of their first games can have a equally nice experience, Or maybe you just make it an actual difficulty setting for people who do think its a neat/good idea

Oh, that's very very Cyberpunk.
You can't do that in 2077, though - that stuff is the GM's call.
You -can- choose to play in one-life-only mode, just like PnP (and real life) for those gaming prodigies complaining about how games are too easy these days. One death, you're out. Easy to do.

Assuming the combat is as good as it looks, the game will also need a variety of enemies other than generic thugs. If the game has garbage and boring enemies unlike Souls or Monster hunter, it won't deserve any patience and won't be satisfying to play.

Actually, implementing some sort of "Choice" mode where you only get auto-saves and exit-saves might help those who want to make actual choices, but know that if given the option to save and load they'll end up scumming a lot. lol
Every time you pick a conversation path, the game saves, so you can't just load and go back to pick something else.

While a truly dynamic difficulty setting would be neat, it would be insanely hard to balance right. Making sure there's enough challenge for those who want it without making it a struggle for those who don't, and trying to figure out how to get the difficulty to adapt to the player... that's a tall order.
I'm fine with difficulty settings, as they let people play as they want for the most part. I just hope that higher difficulties are somehow made actually more difficult, and not just giving inflated stats to enemies like 99% of games do. Having the same enemy who can kill you in one shot instead of three and now takes five times as much damage to kill isn't harder. It's just cheap and lazy. Harder would be the AI using more abilities, better use of cover, doing a better job of flanking, etc. Meanwhile the easy difficulties would have enemies lining up like Stormtroopers and firing wildly. :p

>\Will there be multiple Difficulty Settings?
July 17/19 Alvin Liu: "Yes, of course, of course. The most fun one I think will be the Hardcore setting where we turn off the UI you live as well. And that will be a real challenge for a lot of players. Also, at the same time, if you want to play more casually for the story and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real big concern for us. We want to tell a story and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that. "
Apart from Hardcore (which sounds really underwhelming if all it does is disable the HUD...) sounds pretty standard.

CDPR would want as many people as much possible to buy their game. This is one of those mainstream games that is marketed for general audiences. I doubt they make the difficulty so punishing that less experienced people who don't play a lot of games would go and rage quit. I expect the difficulty level same as Witcher 3, GTAV and Assassin's Creed series.
I would love a dynamic difficulty setting like Resident Evil 4 though :D
