Well this is disappointing. Was hoping for some level of customization, such as paint jobs, but it looks like we won't be able to do that.

In the multiplayer version it would matter, in a solo storyline build it wouldn't

All I can find are videos inferring the existence of customization, and a poorly translated (French to English) dev interview talking about vehicles being "fully controlled and weaponized," but not explicitly saying anything about customization.
There was also an explicit question and answer about this, which was as follows:
Q: "Do we have the ability to customize vehicles, or is it still on the 'not talking about it yet?'
A: "We have mentioned in some of the interviews, that some form of it might be in the game, but that is really it. That's not really a very high primary focus feature for us, so I can't say right away yes or no. I think that's the status."
If it was never confirmed, was it really "removed?" Or just never present to begin with? Of course this isn't to say people can't be disappointed by its absence.
I might be wrong but I could of sworn in the 48 minute game play video they showed at E3 they said you can customise your apartment and vehicles but of course that was a long while back and as the video states "Does not represent the final look of the game", I'm not to shocked they got rid of it if they confirmed it.

This could also be a thing we know CDPR adds lots of free dlc to their games so who knows.

In all honesty I don't think it matters (As long as we have a decent pick of vehicles to play with in the first place) but they could still add paint jobs or something.
Like I said it all depends on how much vehicles we can own / use in the first place. If we can only access like 5 or less (Owned vehicles, not stolen NPC vehicles) I would be disappointed but if we have 12-25 to our disposition I don't really care.
It is weird though since the player customisation will be over-the-top but there will be no vehicle customisation at all?!?

I just rewatched that entire 48 minutes of footage (always an awesome watch btw, anyone worried about the game need only watch that to see what their ambitions are - even with changes and optimizations it's clear the game is going to be quite the experience) just to see, and the only thing ever said about vehicles is, "Players can explore Night City freely in many different cars, on bikes, and in other types of vehicles."
They do show the player using an optical implant to scan a corpo vehicle which displays its type and traits such as armor variety, but there's nothing suggesting customization is possible at any point that I can find.
