The map in Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be quite large. Probably not as big and empty as The Witcher 3 or GTA V. It's going to be incredibly dense with a lot of things to do in a big area, rather than miles and miles of empty forests and mountains.
You have the city, which is made up of six districts, and then the badlands, which encompass the area around the city.
Altogether they should be about the same size as Witcher 3's map, but maybe two or three times as dense.
Keep in mind, Cyberpunk 2077 is an RPG with driving and shooting mechanics. It is NOT a GTA Clone, or a CoD Clone.

I wish it wouldn't be an FPS type game though. Walking around like I'm carrying a camera on my head to see everything makes it feel like a drag. I'd prefer to be behind the character in the air looking around.
There'll be a mod for it.

It is a FP action adventure with high focus on RPG elements and the story.
No it's a RPG. Period. There are many different flavor of RPG, just like Deus Ex was a RPG.

I don´t know why you want to compare this game to whole different type of game.. This is not a 3rd person action game at its core after all.
With that being said, it is not about the size, but rather about how "alive" it is, nobody wants huge wasteland without any real interaction or rather just frozen npc´s that wait for you to talk to them...
